Welcome.

 Remember your Creator
   in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble come
   and the years approach when you will say,
   “I find no pleasure in them”—
 before the sun and the light
   and the moon and the stars grow dark,
   and the clouds return after the rain;
when people rise up at the sound of birds,
   but all their songs grow faint;
when the almond tree blossoms
   and the grasshopper drags itself along
   and desire no longer is stirred.
Then people go to their eternal home
   and mourners go about the streets.

-Ecclesiastes 12

“The tragedy of sin is not that you did something wrong, but that you left God”

The ultimate goal of Christianity is to know, follow, and worship God. The relationship between God and ourself is freeing, and intimate, and encouraging, and convicting, and purifying. It’s wonderful, and it’s terrible that many Christians, myself included, can turn our relationship with God into something that brings us shame and guilt. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ, but instead of focusing on the love of God, many Christians use feelings of condemnation a motivator to live a holy life.

I pray we have the same attitude as Paul; “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.”

“There is geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres.”

-Pythagoras

Stream of Consciousness:

One of the most beautiful things in the world to me is Fluid Mechanics. Let me preface by saying I take a Libertarian view of free will, but every act and movement of any liquid can be traced back to a previous set of actions, a sort of Determinism. There is a certain set of conditions (the temperature of the liquid, the density of said liquid, atmospheric conditions, kinetic energy of the liquid, gravity, active bodies within the liquid, etc.) and because of those conditions, the liquid can only take one specific course.

Have you ever tried to guess what that course will be? Have you ever tried to guess how the waves of the ocean will break? Or how the water out of a shower head will splash as it hits the floor?

Chaos Theory tells us that there is some order to what seems to be random, but I can spend hours staring at a fountain and not find the pattern.

Everything in Science points to some quality of the Creator.

Think about it.

 God is the source of all beauty. He is also the source of all order, however imperceptible it may be.

“When He talks of their losing their selves He only means abandoning the clamor of self-will; once they have done that, He really gives them back their personality, and boasts that when they are wholly His they are more themselves than ever.”

Daniel Johnston sings a song called “God” in which he states that he is glad God made him.

I’ve been learning what it means to love myself over these last few months, but that line made me a bit uncomfortable.

Then I got over it. Things aren’t exactly how I would prefer them to be on this day, but I’m happy with the job God is doing.
